A portrait should look like you.

Most people tell me they hate having their photo taken. That's usually because someone once told them to stand still and smile. I work the other way — we talk, we move, and the real face shows up on its own. That's the one I'm after.

I keep the session simple and unhurried. Good light, a bit of direction when you need it, and enough room to breathe so you never feel posed. The best frames almost always come between the ones you were bracing for.

These are the photos that end up on your wall, your website, your family's phones for years. So I make sure they hold up — honest, well-lit, and unmistakably you, not a version of you performing for the camera.
